Happy New Year to all of our family, friends and supporters!!! It is so nice to be closer to family (geographically), especially during the holidays. That is one thing that we missed in Texas and now it's all sorts of holiday craziness, but so much fun with family!

At the end of last week, Kaitlyn had some pretty bad pain. I noticed once that she had just wet her diaper and was crying. We have urine collection kits that we got from hospice and we used the AZO at home test strips (look like pH strips) to test her urine for leukocytes (white blood cells that could indicate infection) and nitrates (a bacteria by-product). The results came out positive so hospice quickly had us start her on antibiotics for a urinary tract infection (UTI). She has been off and on the past few days, pain-wise. She's been sleeping more during the day too. Could be her body working to fight off the infection or disease progression. Everything slows down toward the end.
She even slept through Cole's 1st birthday party! We celebrated Cole's birthday on New Year's Eve day with a monkey-themed party and let's just say... he LOVES pizza and cake! :-)
We also had a surprise early birthday party for Aunt Jess!
