So much is happening that it's hard to keep up! Tonight there is a Prayer Service with lots of music and photos at Mount Vernon Baptist Church in Glen Allen, VA (my hometown). Everyone is welcome and it starts at 7pm. If you can't make it or live elsewhere, please consider saying a prayer of peace and comfort for Kaitlyn during this difficult time for her.

The pain that she was experiencing has seemed to get a bit better. She has the pain patch on her shoulder and we are giving her morphine every 3 hours and the past two nights she has slept all the way through the night! We are still getting up every 3 hours to give her the medicine but it is well worth it for her not to be in pain and for her to get good rest.
Today though she is having trouble with her breathing. It is becoming more difficult for her to maintain a good oxygen saturation (mid-upper 90s). She has been in the 80s and low 90s most of the day. She is over the maximum limit for how much oxygen she should be on at a continuous rate so we can't go any higher for extended periods of time. I tried an albuterol breathing treatment but we aren't sure if it helped much.
Right now she is propped up on some pillows. We are hoping that this will take some pressure off of her lungs and let her breathe a little easier.

We wish we could be at the Prayer Service tonight but we can't leave Kaitlyn's side. She needs us. Plus we live in Indian Trail, NC. The last time Kaitlyn was in a car seat was months ago! She can't tolerate being in an upright position since she will choke on her saliva so we are home bound for now.

I just want to thank everyone in advance for everything they have done to make the Prayer Service for Kaitlyn a reality. The goodness in others, near and far, is incredible. We can never express in words how thankful we are for all of you.

I'll be praying from Mebane, NC. Of course, we pray for Kaitlyn and your family every day! I've written it before on here, but I am a better mom because of Kaitlyn and her journey. She continues to touch lives.

ReplyDeleteI am praying as I write... and as I heard Karen and Rick Santorum (one of the candidates for presidency) speak today about their daughter (who has trisomy 18) I was reminded of how courageous you all are and how both of your families are so trusting in God and relying on your faith through these journeys even in the darkest of times. And you're both using your experiences to better the world. I, too, am a better parent because of you! God bless you and I continue to think about you all sooo much (without even knowing you personally) and hope for another pain free night for Kaitlyn...that was my main prayer last night and it worked!!!!:) Yeah!!

I suffer with daily pain and take morphen ,but i must say that i have never seen a family with so much strengh love and faith for them selfs or there little angel. I can not imagen the pain she goes thrue and how brave she is with all of this. I Did not get to pray for her last night ,but i will from now on ,so know that you all are in my prayers every day from now on. May God keep your family safe.

ReplyDeletePrecious Kaitlyn.....you of only two years old has taught me of 35 years what many could not have taught me in a lifetime. I hold my girls tighter, I look at my husband different. I pray that God wraps your momma and poppa with His everlasting love, peace and comfort as you pass from this life to the one where you will live for eternity with your maker. No sickness, no pain......just all the love of your angels and Heavenly Father. Thank you for what you have taught me. Although you dont know me....I love you and pray for you that you feel no pain. To your mommy and daddy......Thank you for allowing your precious baby and family to be a part of something so much bigger than all of us can understand or fathom. You are not walking this alone.
